O Canada.

The Canada Gathering Tent at the Chicago Celtic Festival announced it's evening concert session with bagpipes and drums. While I realize that Canada, and particularly the maritimes, have real UK/celtic roots, it's hard for me to think it's a relative music for the whole country. What is Canadian music?

Justin, that is an amazing photograph.

It's quite odd you know, I can't define what Canadian music is, but it's the music I enjoy the most. There are a handful of bands and musicians from the US or Britain or Ireland and elsewhere, but what I keep coming back to is Bruce Cockburn, Feist, Neil Young, Stan Rogers, Arcade Fire, Sam Roberts, k-os, BNL, Alanis Morissette, Jann Arden, Daniel Lanois, Justin Jeffery, Leonard Cohen, Sarah McLaughlin, Gordon Lightfoot, Ron Sexsmith, Tragically Hip, etc.

Canadian music just rocks. It's got depth and integrity.

As for the pipes... the Cdn military is heavy into that too.
